STORY SUMMARY

A Medal from Grandpa
The story follows a young protagonist who receives a medal from his grandfather in recognition of his initiative and success.
During a holiday visit to Sakumono Titanic Beach, the protagonist observes a lively scene: athletic competitions, football games, horse riding, swimming contests, couples strolling hand in hand, family gatherings, and people enjoying kebabs. Winners of the competitions are announced, and the joyful crowd eventually disperses.
However, when everyone leaves, the protagonist is left to witness the devastating sight of the beach covered in trash—plastic bottles, food wrappers, and other waste. Saddened by the neglect, he feels a deep sense of responsibility and vows to protect the environment.
Back at school after the holidays, Mr. Alhassan the creative arts teacher, announces a “Sanitation Week”, encouraging the students to keep their surroundings clean. With the support of Mr. Alhassan and Mrs. Darko, he organizes a beach cleanup exercise. The effort succeeds, rallying students and the wider community.
