Summary – Fly Like An Eagle
Maame Tutuwa, a once lonely and struggling student who walks with a limp, experiences a profound transformation. One day, while sitting on an old stone in front of her home and reflecting on how lonely she has been often ignored by teens in her neighborhood and at school, she notices soaring eagles in the sky. Inspired by their harmonious flight in unison, she decides to learn more about them.
She visits a bookshop with her father to explore books about birds. While scanning the shelves, she picks up a book titled “The Majesty of Eagles.” At the shop, she meets a stranger, Akua, who recommends the book as very interesting. This sparks a conversation that develops into a friendship. For the first time, Maame Tutuwa feels relieved to share her story with someone.
Back home, she tells her mother, Auntie Ama, about her experience at the bookshop. Auntie Ama is happy for her daughter’s newfound enthusiasm. As Maame Tutuwa completes the book, she realizes that her struggles, persistence, and triumphs parallel the eagle’s patient hunt, silent focus, and soaring flight.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Maame Tutuwa acknowledges her growth from a struggling girl to a confident young woman. At school, her friend Efua notices the change in her, as does the class. Even the Maths teacher is surprised to see her solve the most challenging problem in the class. She views this achievement as a milestone in her journey.
With renewed confidence, Maame Tutuwa looks forward to her next literary adventure, planning to visit the school library to discover new books. The story teaches that embracing individuality and uniqueness is essential, and that supportive relationships can transform lives.
